The County Government of Uasin Gishu in collaboration with the USAID Private Sector Engagement Program on Tuesday held a public-private partnership validation workshop to discuss the zero draft of the county’s public-private partnership policy.


The workshop served as a platform for stakeholders to deliberate on the proposed policy, which aims to enhance the delivery of health services through effective public-private collaborations.
Speaking while officially opening the workshop, Health Services CECM, Dr. Abraham Serem highlighted the significance of the policy adoption, emphasizing its role in jointly regulating finances and implementing various health-related initiatives such as service provision, product distribution, equipment procurement, research, communications, and education.


” This policy has been long overdue and is expected to enhance efficiency, sustainability and equity in the delivery of healthcare services within Uasin Gishu County,” said Dr. Serem.
Dr. Rachel Gikanga, the Deputy Chief of Party at USAID Private Sector Engagement, noted the importance of the policy in leveraging and optimizing private sector resources to expand health options equitably and sustainably.



She said that the partnership between the County Government and USAID is a shared commitment to fostering innovative approaches that enhance healthcare access and quality for all residents.
On his part, Chief Officer for Promotive and Preventive Health Dr Paul Wangwe emphasized the significance of the policy document saying that it is crucial in guiding stakeholder engagement at the county level therefore it is designed to provide a framework for collaboration between public and private entities in the health sector, ensuring a coordinated and strategic approach to improving health outcomes and service delivery.
According to Director of Health Services Dr Evans Kiprotich, the validation workshop serves as a critical milestone in the development of the public-private partnership policy setting the stage for coordinated efforts to drive healthcare transformation in Uasin Gishu County.
