PRESIDENT PLEDGES KSH 500 MILLION TO COMPLETE AND EQUIP ZIWA LEVEL V HOSPITAL

President Dr William Ruto has pledged KSh 500 million towards the completion and equipping of Ziwa Level V Hospital in Soy Constituency, Uasin Gishu County, in a major boost to efforts to expand access to specialised healthcare services across the North Rift region.

The President made the commitment during an inspection of the ongoing construction works at the facility, reaffirming the government’s commitment to strengthening healthcare infrastructure and bringing advanced medical services closer to the people.

The 400-bed hospital is expected to become a key referral centre serving Uasin Gishu and neighbouring counties, significantly expanding access to specialised treatment while easing pressure on Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital and other referral facilities.

The KSh 500 million pledge will support the completion and equipping of the facility, paving the way for the delivery of a wider range of medical services once the hospital becomes operational.

Upon completion, the hospital will feature five operating theatres, 12 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds and 12 High Dependency Unit (HDU) beds. It will also house laboratories, maternity, dental and diagnostic units, alongside a physiotherapy and rehabilitation centre.

The expanded capacity is expected to strengthen the management of complex medical conditions, improve emergency response and enhance access to surgical, maternal and diagnostic services.

Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii Chelilim welcomed the President’s commitment, noting that completing and equipping the hospital would be a major milestone in strengthening healthcare delivery and bringing specialised services closer to residents.

Once operational, Ziwa Level V Hospital will help decentralise specialised healthcare, strengthen referral systems and reduce the need for patients to travel long distances in search of advanced treatment.

The inspection was attended by senior national and county government officials, who assessed the progress of the project as efforts continue to bring the facility closer to completion.
