POWERING PROGRESS: GOVERNOR DR. BII COMMISSIONS SILIBOI–SAITO ELECTRIFICATION PROJECT

Mzee Michael Cheptum (Cheboren) is among more than 325 residents of Saito Farm in Ainabkoi/Olare Ward who have lived without electricity for over six decades.

Today’s commissioning of the Siliboi–Saito Electrification Project marks a new dawn for him and the entire community—opening the door to improved livelihoods, climate-smart agriculture, and inclusive economic growth.

Under the leadership of H.E. Governor Dr. Jonathan Bii Chelilim, more than 250 households have already been connected to electricity through the Stima Mashinani Matching Fund, implemented in partnership with REREC. Sibiloi/Saito, where today’s commissioning was held, is one of six villages across the six sub-counties that benefited from Phase 1 of the program.

This year, the county is set to roll out 16 additional electrification projects, ensuring that even more households and villages are finally connected to the national grid.

Electrification remains key under nguzo number 7 aimed at significantly expanding access to power to drive rural economic transformation—promoting entrepreneurship, creating digital job opportunities, and supporting value addition in local production.
