The County Government of Uasin Gishu has reaffirmed its commitment to using performance evaluation as a tool for strengthening planning, accountability and service delivery to residents.

County Executive Committee Member for Devolution, Administration and Public Service Management, Mrs. Loice Murrey, has urged county departments to embrace the annual performance evaluation exercise positively, noting that the process provides an opportunity to assess achievements, identify gaps and develop practical interventions for better results.

Speaking during the ongoing 2025/2026 Annual Performance Contract Evaluation at her office, Murrey emphasized that performance evaluation should not be perceived as a punitive exercise, but as an important component of planning and continuous improvement.

“Evaluation is part of planning. We take it positively,” Murrey said.

She noted that systematic assessment of departmental performance enables the County Government to establish what has been achieved against set targets, identify areas requiring improvement and align future plans and resources with the needs of residents.

The evaluation is therefore expected to strengthen accountability and ensure that commitments made through the Performance Contracts translate into tangible improvements in the lives of the people of Uasin Gishu, including more efficient public services, responsive departments and better use of public resources.

The exercise also reinforces the County Government’s Nguzo Kumi, which provide the framework for delivering on the County’s development priorities. Through effective performance tracking, departments are expected to remain focused on translating these priorities into measurable results.

The three-day evaluation exercise, running from 24th to 26th September 2026, brings together various county departments to review implementation of the 2025/2026 Performance Contracts, assess progress against agreed targets and identify areas requiring corrective action.
