Over 25 deliveries were recorded at Mama Rachel Ruto Maternity Hospital in Eldoret on Wednesday, just hours after the facility was commissioned by the Kenya’s First Lady.
Speaking during a visit to the facility, Clinical Services Chief Officer Dr. Joyce emphasized the importance of community health promoters in facilitating the referral of expectant mothers to the facility.
“Recognizing the significant influx of patients, I want to encourage the community health promoters to continue with their efforts in promoting maternal health awareness and directing women to the maternity hospital for safe deliveries and quality care,”said the CO.
In addition to addressing patient referrals, Dr. Sang also conducted comprehensive supervision of the hospital’s equipment and amenities, ensuring that the medical facilities are well-equipped and maintained to provide essential care to the patients and upholding high standards of healthcare delivery.
She added: “The introduction of surveillance technology (CCTV) serves as a security measure to safeguard both patients and staff by enhancing safety and monitoring within the healthcare facility.”
The successful operation of Mama Rachel Ruto Maternity Hospital as evidenced by the birth of numerous children after its inauguration reflects the positive impact of investing in maternal healthcare and promoting safe deliveries.
Governor Dr Jonathan Bii’s second pillar in the Nguzo Kumi manifesto prioritizes the well-being of mothers and newborns therefore the Hospital plays a vital role in promoting maternal health and reducing infant mortality rates in the County.
