LET’S GET READY FOR THE AVAILABLE OPPORTUNITIES, CECM CHERUTO TELLS BUSINESS COMMUNITY

The County Executive Committee Member for Trade and Cooperatives Martha Cheruto has called on the business community to prepare themselves with needed requirements for them to benefit from the government opportunities available in the upcoming construction of the iconic market, affordable housing, Export Processing Zone (EPZ) and County Aggregation and Industrial Park (CAIP).

Speaking on Monday during a visit to Eldoret North JuaKali Association, Cheruto emphasized the need to incorporate the business community especially those in metal and fabrication works because of their expertise in building.

She said her docket will soon roll out training in various trade sectors on packaging and the quality of products to meet required export standards.

“We need to make use of our airport by exporting our products and we cannot do that if we are not conversant with what is expected of us as traders” noted Cheruto

The CECM also challenged the association to form a cooperative for them to benefit from the government funds; the County Enterprise Development Fund and the Inua Biashara Fund to sustain their businesses.

“As an administration, we have partnerships with various institutions including the Women Enterprise Fund(WEF)which aims at benefiting women in businesses. I call on women in groups to go for these funds” she adds.

She also mentioned that the county government is working round the clock to ensure that programs under Nguzo Kumi are implemented pointing out a provision of portable water, provision of drugs, ECDE school milk program and bursary disbursement across the wards, access to well-maintained roads, youth empowerment opportunities as among initiatives being undertaken challenging them to always observe safety and waste management.

Director Micro and Small Enterprises Authority(MSEA) North Rift region Alton Kogo said that they have been supporting the association on various programs including exhibitions appreciating them for their dedication to their work and further urging them to adhere to the quality standards required.

The Chairman, Eldoret North JuaKali Association Moris Omondi was present.
