KENYA MUSIC RIFT VALLEY REGION FESTIVALS BEGIN IN UASIN GISHU

The 98th Edition of the Kenya Music Festival for the Rift Valley Region has officially opened at Hill School in Uasin Gishu County, bringing together learners, teachers and adjudicators to celebrate talent, culture and creativity under the theme, “Enhancing Creative Economy Through Artistic Expressions for Sustainable Development.”

Uasin Gishu Governor Dr. Jonathan Bii officially opened the festival through a speech delivered by County Executive Committee Member(CECM) for Education, Technical Training, Gender, Social Protection and Culture, Eng. Lucy Ng’endo.

The Governor encouraged participants to use their artistic talents to create economic opportunities while preserving Kenya’s cultural heritage, reaffirming the county government’s commitment to supporting arts and culture.

Speaking on behalf of the Regional Director of Education, Rift Valley Region, Assistant Regional Director of Education Ann Kangethe emphasized the role of the festival in nurturing creativity, discipline and national cohesion among learners.

Equity Bank, through its Regional Manager Reuben Kimutai, supported the festival with a cheque of KSh 1,582,000 and donated 11 trophies, while the Central Bank of Kenya donated 10 trophies to recognize outstanding performances.

The festival will feature music, dance, drama and cultural presentations, giving learners a platform to showcase their creativity and celebrate Kenya’s diverse heritage
