INFRASTRUCTURE EXPANSION TO INCREASE EXPORT AND MARKET ACCESS – CECM CHERUTO

The County Government of Uasin Gishu is keen on programs aimed at facilitating and catalyzing export and market access for products through the expansion of infrastructure.

Speaking on Wednesday during a visit to Laminate Tubes Industries Limited in Kimumu Ward, County Executive Committee Member for Trade, Industrialization, Martha Cheruto noted that the county desires to see industries across the county meet their targets and expand their growth base by enhancing their visibility through expansion of infrastructure.

Cheruto said the County is keen on industrial development and that there are financing programs fundamentally aimed at adding muscle for the expansion of enterprises while creating more job opportunities for the residents of the county.

Enterprise Development and Inua Biashara Funds, loaned out to farmer-based societies and Saccos have greatly helped some of these entities to transform and grow.

She said besides North Rift Economic Bloc(NOREB) member-counties looking at issues affecting companies across the bloc and how to make them vibrant, the Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM), the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry other stakeholders are working on the development of company profiles.

Laminate Tubes Industries, established in 1994, does packaging of products including Agricultural Supplies, Chemicals, cosmetics, and Plastic products among others.

Also during a visit to Blueberry Villas in Kapseret, the CECM noted that the agenda of Governor Dr Jonathan Bii is to grow and improve businesses for the growth of the economy and employment, reiterating her docket’s commitment to supporting them further.

Blueberry Villas provides accommodations with a garden, free private parking, a shared lounge and a terrace. The 5-star hotel offers a shared kitchen and room service. The property has evening entertainment and a concierge service.

Directors Kipleting Mengich (Enterprise Development), Isaac Lagat (Trade) Roselyne Rae(Co-operative) and Irene Kapting’ei (Industrialization) were present.
