GROUPS IN TRANSPORT INDUSTRY PLAY A CRUCIAL ROLE IN ENHANCING SECURITY-GOVERNOR BII

Governor Jonathan Bii has called on groups in taxi industry to ensure they join or form organized groups noting that they play a critical role in enhancing security.

Speaking on Wednesday at the County headquarters during the flagging off of Yego Taxi Cabs,the Governor said the groups in transport sector should capitalize on installing all their fleet with Apps which makes it easier for vehicle tracking, management among others key aspects.

I challenge you to compare your operations here in our city of champions to those of Rwanda and try to borrow best mechanisms that would see our transport industry make a difference especially in their operations” added governor Bii

The County through the Department of Trade and Cooperatives has grouped all members of bodaboda industry and the matatu sector into groups for ease of management and to realize smooth operations as well as benefit from the County Enterprise Development Funds.

Karanvir Singh, CEO and Founder of Yego Global on his part thanked the Governor for the opportunity to operate in Eldoret noting that their drivers are provided with personal accident insurance at no cost and medical insurance to qualifying drivers.

County Executive Committee Member for Trade and Cooperatives Martha Cheruto, Eng Joseph Lagat (Roads),Trade Chief Officer Geoffrey Tanui, Directors Dr Silas Leting(Licensing), Margaret Aiyabei (Tourism) and Irene Kapting’ei(Industrialization) were among present.
