Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor has urged graduates to embrace innovation, leadership, and resilience as they step into a rapidly changing world.
Representing Governor Dr. Jonathan Bii Chelilim, at the University of Eldoret 14th graduation ceremony, the Deputy Governor, who is also an alumnus of the university, congratulated the Class of 2025 and praised the institution for shaping leaders and nurturing talent.

“Education is the great equaliser, the bridge between aspiration and opportunity,” the Deputy Governor said. “Graduates, go out with courage, innovate boldly, lead with integrity, and carry the values of this institution with pride.”
The Deputy Governor highlighted the significance of the university’s name, noting that Eldoret Kenya’s fifth largest city symbolizes ambition, resilience, and global vision.
He emphasized that the ideas generated at the university should mirror the spirit of the city and contribute to its growth.
This year’s graduation theme, “Empowered Graduates Driving Innovative Solutions for a Sustainable Future,” was described as timely in light of global changes, including the rise of artificial intelligence and new industries.

The Deputy Governor applauded the University of Eldoret for its achievements in agricultural science, seed research, soil health, animal genetics, and climate-smart technologies, saying these innovations strengthen food systems and support economic growth.
He also underscored Uasin Gishu County’s commitment to youth empowerment through training, internships, and initiatives such as the Fanikisha Hustle Programme, which equips young people with skills to seize emerging opportunities.
The ceremony was attended by notable leaders, including Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Wisley Rotich and Nandi Deputy Governor Yulita Mitei.
