GOVERNOR JONATHAN BII’S NGUZO KUMI AGENDA DRIVES CLIMATE-SMART TRANSFORMATION IN UASIN GISHU

The Chepsaita Aquaculture Project in Ng’enyilel Ward, Turbo Sub-County, stands as a testament to Governor Jonathan Bii’s Nguzo Kumi Manifesto, delivering on its promise of sustainable economic empowerment and improved livelihoods for Uasin Gishu residents.

Members of Sikika SACCO recently celebrated a bountiful harvest of hundreds of mature tilapia from their community fish pond, a milestone made possible through Nguzo 7 of the Governor’s ten-pillar agenda, which champions community empowerment through sustainable livelihoods and inclusive economic opportunities.

Implemented under the Financing Locally-Led Climate Action (FLLoCA) Programme, the project equipped the community with a constructed fish pond and over 2,000 fingerlings, enabling residents to adopt climate-smart aquaculture practices that strengthen both household incomes and community resilience.

Sikika SACCO member Jacinta captured the community’s sentiment: “Tumefurahi sana kwa haya mazao. Tumeona mambo mazuri ya Governor wetu na FLLoCA” (“We are very happy with this harvest. We have seen good things from our Governor and FLLoCA”).

County officials reaffirmed their commitment to scaling up similar initiatives across Uasin Gishu, ensuring that the Nguzo Kumi vision continues to translate into tangible food security, job creation, and grassroots prosperity through locally-led climate adaptation solutions.
