Governor Dr. Jonathan Bii has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to empowering individuals who have successfully completed the County’s free three-month rehabilitation program, calling it a “game changer” for Uasin Gishu.
Speaking in Moiben, Dr. Bii emphasized that drug addiction is a disease often misunderstood and praised the rehabilitation services as a transformative tool for restoring hope and dignity to those affected.

One such success story is Thomas Yator, a former addict who credited the Governor’s initiative with saving his life. “I had lost hope and even ended up in jail, but thanks to Governor Dr. Bii, I received treatment and life skills training that completely turned my life around,” he said.
Yator’s remarkable recovery caught the attention of ADCB Director Koiya Arap Maiyo, who offered him a role at the very center that helped him heal. Maiyo praised Dr. Bii’s bold vision and urged the Governor to extend similar support to women battling addiction.
With lives already being transformed, Dr. Bii’s initiative is proving to be more than just a policy—it’s a lifeline.
