Uasin Gishu Governor Dr. Jonathan Bii, on Thursday, officially opened the 2026 Eldoret National Agricultural Show, where more than 180 exhibitors from across the country are showcasing farming innovations and technologies.
The annual exhibition, organized by the Agricultural Society of Kenya, began on March 4 under the theme “Promoting Climate-Smart Agriculture and Trade Initiatives for Sustainable Economic Growth.”
The event has drawn farmers, agribusiness firms, learning institutions, financial organizations and innovators presenting modern agricultural solutions aimed at improving productivity and sustainability.

Speaking during the opening ceremony, Dr. Bii described the show as a critical platform for promoting climate-smart agriculture, agribusiness development and youth empowerment.
He reaffirmed the county government’s commitment to working with stakeholders to strengthen agricultural value chains, enhance farmer training and position agriculture as a modern, innovation-driven sector capable of transforming livelihoods across the North Rift region.
The Governor also noted that this year’s exhibition places strong emphasis on diversification and youth inclusion, with organizers creating opportunities for young agripreneurs, start-ups and technology-driven enterprises to showcase their innovations.
County Executive for Agriculture, Agribusiness, Livestock and Fisheries, Dr. Sam Kotut, said the show provides farmers and young people with access to agricultural innovations, training forums, market linkages and investment opportunities within the sector.
