GOVERNOR BII LEADS PRESIDENT RUTO’s TEAM IN THE INSPECTION OF 64 STADIUM ON POSSIBLE COLLABORATIONS

Uasin Gishu Governor Dr Jonathan Bii on Thursday led the Head of The presidential Economic Transformation Secretariat Mr. Augustine Cheruyot and his team to 64 Stadium to inspect and assess on possible collaboration between the two levels of government.

This comes after the Governor requested President Dr William Ruto to give support in the completion of the project which is at 68 percent.

During the assessment, the Governor highlighted the importance of the stadium ahead of the African competition coming in August. “Kenya is privileged to co-host the African Championship this year, Eldoret’s Kipchoge Stadium will serve as a playing ground while the 64 Stadium will serve as a training ground for the teams that will play in Kipchoge Stadium,” said Dr. Bii.

Mr Cheruiyot, also the President’s Senior Advisor, noted the prime location of the stadium and its importance to the City of Champions.

While giving the progress report, Acting City Manager and Chief Officer for Urban Mr. Julius Koech said the stadium which will host 12000 people, will also host indoor events and also have tuck shops. Principal Secretary for Sports, Eng Peter Tum, visited less than two weeks ago.

In attendance were the presidential secretariat, County Government officials and The City of Eldoret staff.
