The County Government of Uasin Gishu has set structures and programs intended to grow and commercialize sports talents.
Speaking during the launch of 2nd leg of Eldoret City Volleyball Tournament on Friday, Governor Jonathan Bii said his government puts talent development as a fulcrum for youth empowerment and overally, societal development.
The Governor said Chagaiya High Altitude Training Camp and a multi-purpose sports complex set to be established in Racecourse Ward, are among the county projects aimed at nurturing talent.
The Governor also said his administration will continue expanding the Governor’s Cup program to incorporate more talents.


Paul Bitok Foundation through patron Paul Bitok, lauded the County Government for seeking collaboration in growing talent.
County Executive for Sports, Eng Lucy Ng’endo said the Department of Sports is ready to undertake sports programs as inspired by the Governor from time to time.
Nahum Jelagat, the Chief Officer for Sports, said the tourney will be crucial for Uasin Gishu teams to get exposed to the international stage, as representatives of top clubs will be keen to beef up their stables.
Both local and international clubs are expected for the tournament that serve off on November 30 through December 2, 2023.
