Uasin Gishu Governor His Excellency Dr. Jonathan Bii on Wednesday hosted a meeting with a team of Presidential Economic Advisors and Members of County Assembly (MCAs) at his office in a discussion centred on aligning his Nguzo Kumi Agenda with President William Ruto’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), focusing on impactful project implementation in all wards across the County.
The meeting aimed to harmonize efforts between county governments and the National administration, ensuring that resources are effectively channelled to meet the urgent needs of citizens in various sectors.
During the meeting, it was emphasized that sectors such as agriculture, Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), affordable housing, the digital creative economy, and healthcare will be prioritized.
Deputy Governor Evans Kapkea articulated that aligning local initiatives with the national agenda is crucial for maximizing the impact of these sectors on community welfare.

Dr. Dominic Menjo detailed the potential benefits of sustainable agricultural practices, which can lead to increased production and resilience to climate change impacts. His insights resonated with the Members of County Assembly who underscored the critical role of agriculture in driving the county’s economy.
Chief Executive Officer Commodity Market Exchange (CMX) Dr Jacob Maaga reiterated his initiatives to boost milk production in the region through advanced silage production techniques.
Dr Maaga highlighted the pressing need for animal feeds in Kenya, estimating that the country requires approximately 45,000 metric tons to support its dairy sector adequately.
“While other countries maintain consistent milk production levels, Kenya faces fluctuating outputs that are largely dependent on climatic conditions, particularly during the rainy and dry seasons,” Dr. Maaga explained.
He attributed these challenges primarily to a shortage of quality animal feeds, urging farmers to adopt better practices in feed production and management.
This call for enhanced agricultural practices resonates with the broader objectives of BETA, which emphasize sustainable development and economic resilience.
According to Maaga, providing farmers with the necessary resources and knowledge, the initiative seeks to stabilize milk production and ensure that rural economies thrive.
County Executive Committee Members (CECMs), Dr. Sam Kottut (Agriculture), Edward Sawe (Lands), Dr. Abraham Serem (Health Services), and Anthony Sitienei (Water), Chief Officers Elphas Kesio (Agriculture) Mark Some (Environment) and Eliud Kipkorir (Finance) among those present during the meeting.
