GOVERNOR BII HOSTS KENYA NATIONAL FEDERATION OF JUA KALI ASSOCIATION, DISCUSS BUILDING CAPACITIES IN VARIOUS SECTORS

Uasin Gishu Governor H.E Dr.Jonathan Bii on Monday played host to a delegation from the Kenya National Federation of JuaKali Association(KNFJA) on the presentation of various proposals and a discussion that centred on sourcing partners from the United States that will be key in building capacities in among other sectors, Health, Agriculture, Energy and Jua Kali.

Led by KNFJA Secretary General Dr. Ing Charles Kalomba, Governor Bii said Uasin Gishu has the best climate with fertile soils that support any form of production assuring them of his administration’s readiness in ensuring that the proposals are implemented.

“These proposals are key in the growth of business and our county economy. This team will dissect one by one for ease of implementation to benefit our people” said Governor Bii.

During the meeting, deliberations on value-adding bamboo to see the manufacturing of blackboards and other products from it was also discussed.

“In our proposal, we also looking forward to training the youths of this county on grasshopper breeding because there’s a read market in Uganda and breeding of earthworms for chicken feeds” said Kalomba.

According to County Executive Committee Member for Trade and Cooperatives Martha Cheruto, her docket is working closely with the Jua Kali sector by providing them with funds and capacity building.

“We are advocating for green manufacturing in our county and all our manufacturing industries are adopting to the terms so that we mitigate the effects of climate change,” said Cheruto.

County Secretary Edwin Bett, County Executive Committee Members, Chief Officers and Chief of Staff Nicholas Chepkwony were present.
