GOVERNOR BII HOSTS DELEGATION FROM STATE DEPARTMENT FOR HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT ON MARKETS ESTABLISHMENT

Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii has called on the State Department for Housing and Urban Development to fast-track the establishment of the already earmarked market facilities for traders to benefit from them as soon as possible.

Speaking on Thursday at his Kapseret office when he hosted officers from the ministry on the planned construction of markets categorized under Metropolitan, Municipal and those under to the Economic Stimulus Program, Bii said his agenda is to see traders operate in a conducive environment.

Ziwa, Kapseret and Cherunya market facilities were constructed under the ESP way back.

Phillip Osoro, team leader from the state department lauded the County Government for securing its markets and making sure that they have the necessary social amenities needed for operationalization, noting that their aim is to construct at least one market in every sub-county.

“And because your markets are well secured with water, and security lights, our role is to make sure that they are built to the modern standards required” added Osoro.

County Executive Committee Member for Trade, Industrialization, Tourism, Cooperatives and Enterprise Development Martha Cheruto assured the team of her docket’s collaboration.
