A wave of smiles and celebration swept through Mama Rachel Ruto Maternity Hospital as Bishop Simon Kurgat led his Explosion of Joy team to visit mothers and newborns, donating clothes and spreading cheer.
The event was hosted by Ambrose Tarus, Chief Officer of Clinical Services, under the guidance of Governor Jonathan Bii Chelilim, whose administration has prioritized maternal and child health. Tarus highlighted the county’s plans to expand the newborn unit to meet the rising number of deliveries, ensuring that every baby and mother receives quality care.

Mr Tarus praised the partnership, noting that community and faith-based initiatives complement government efforts to improve health outcomes. “Moments like these bring joy to families and underscore our commitment to building a resilient, child-friendly healthcare system,” he said.
The celebration not only brightened the day for families but also reinforced the county’s focus on nurturing healthy, thriving children from their very first days.
