GOVERNOR BII CALLS ON THE YOUTH TO ENGAGE IN AGRICULTURAL BUSINESS FOR WEALTH CREATION

Uasin Gishu Governor H.E Dr. Jonathan Bii has encouraged the youth to delve into agriculture-related business as it has proven to be lucrative.

The governor says it is high time the county youth focus their energies on agriculture as opposed to white-collar jobs.

Speaking on Friday during Absa bank engagement with business stakeholders event on building resilience for business continuity, Dr. Bii said his administration has made notable strides geared towards empowering the youth including lowering (motorbike, taxi and matatu) levies for the young people to enable them to operate smoothly.

The county boss, while lauding the bank for their continued support towards supporting and promoting businesses across the county, called on them to have the youth trained on financial literacy, mentorship and coaching before giving them funds to engage in profitable ventures.

“We are building structures and systems to empower the business community. One of the most successful initiatives is the establishment of our state-of-the-art service centre which has reduced the time spent by clients in seeking services.

The new revenue system (Sisibo Pay) enables our clients to pay at their comfort zones by dialling the USSD Code *764#.

Absa Business Banking Director Elizabeth Wasunna said the bank has adequate finances set aside to support the businesses realize growth and sustainability in their various sectors.

Chief Officer for Trade CPA. Victorine Kapkiai who participated in a panel discussion outlined initiatives by the County to enhance the ease of doing business and incentives available.

Uasin Gishu woman representative Hon. Gladys Shollei was among the present at the event that brought together the business community, and national government agencies among others.
