GOVERNMENT IN FULL SUPPORT FOR CREATION OF INVESTMENTS-PRESIDENT RUTO

President William Ruto has called on Kenyas who live and work in various parts of the country to invest maintaining that his government fully supports the creation of investments across the counties in realization of job creation and growth of economies.

Speaking on Wednesday in Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology, Kakamega County during the inaugural Kakamega International Investment Conference(KIICO), President Ruto affirmed that counties have become the focal development avenues for economic transformation.

“I assure all investors of connecting the counties with issues of unstable power transmission with new lines to stabilize them because we want people to invest for job creation and other values that comes with investments” said the president.

The event themed: ‘Opening up counties as the new frontiers for investments and development’ attracted over 3000 local and international guests including potential investors.

During the event, potential investors penned down atleast 17 collaboration investment deals aimed at growing the region economically by accelerating it’s economic growth through attracting investors and sustainable investments.

United States Ambassador to Kenya Meg Whitman called on investors to prioritize investing in Kenya noting the country has among other potentials, the largest export market to the United States and regional economic hub for East Africa as well as a leading destination for start up capital with the best workforce in the world.

Trade, Industrialization, Investment and Tourism Chief Officer Geoffrey Tanui flanked by Director for Industrialization and Investment Irene Kapting’ei and Brenda Rono, interacted with potential investors and marketed the county through sharing county’s available investment opportunities.

The event, according to Tanui is an opportunity to market Eldoret as an investment hub to investors even as the city charter award is in the offing.

Secretary General of African Continental Free Trade Area Secretariat H.E Wamkele Mene, Prime Cabinet Secretary and also CS for Foreign Affairs Musalia Mudavadi, Mining and Blue economy CS Salim Mvurya, Investment,Trade and Industry CS Rebecca Miano were among top government dignitaries present during the event.
