FIREFIGHTERS PUT OUT A FEROCIOUS FIRE AS COUNTY URGES RESIDENTS TO REMAIN CAUTIOUS

Uasin Gishu County firefighters on Wednesday successfully managed to put out a bush fire in Kapsoya estate that posed a significant challenge due to strong winds and hot weather conditions experienced this dry season.

According to residents, the fire, which could have caused massive destruction, began near the Eldoret Special School staff quarters, where one of them lit fire trying to kill a snake that had appeared in the area in the afternoon hours.

Uasin Gishu County Chief Fire Officer David Sitati said his team responded swiftly following an appeal by Naiberi police officers. He further indicated the importance of residents remaining vigilant and giving timely information during this dry season for quick intervention to such incidents.

On Monday, County Executive for Roads Engineer Joseph Lagat urged residents to be cautious and ensure they have the county emergency numbers; 0710646464, 0532061185 or 0706389888, in case of any incident.

He reaffirmed the county’s commitment to respond to such incidents on time, especially when the county is experiencing an upsurge in fire incidents.
