DR. KOSGEI LEADS TEAM IN SITE VISIT AND HAND OVER OF SITES FOR CONSTRUCTION OF HIGH MASTS

Uasin Gishu County Government through the Kenya Informal Settlements Improvement Programme (KISIP) is constructing several high Mast lighting systems that will enhance security and create 24 hour economy in highly populated Informal Settlements within Eldoret city environs.

The Department of Lands , Housing, Physical Planning and Urban Development under the leadership of the County Executive Committee Member Dr. Janeth Kosgei, is set to construct high masts with broad-beamed , high-intensity lights at Kipkaren , Maili Nne, and Mwanzo Settlements.

Chief Officer Mr Julius Koech incharge of Department urban planning, says the need for the lights is timely and will serve the residents needs.

” We are looking at the security factor in the Informal Settlements, as well as working towards increasing their business hours in the night to meet a 24 hour economy. We want to make their livelihood in these areas better.” Said Dr. Kosgei.

The KISIP National Cordinating team led by Ms.Zenah Kirui, made several site visits to the settlements and thereafter the department has handed over sites to the contractor for works to commence immediately.

Oldomek Company Ltd, who is set to begin works, says the site works will begin immediately and all youth from the Settlements arr encouraged to take up the manual jobs at the sites.
