COUNTY’S MULTI-MILLION PROJECTS TO BOOST THE CITY’S ECONOMY

The upcoming multi-million iconic market, County Aggregation and Industrial Park (CAIP) and the Export Processing Zone (EPZ) projects are expected to play a major role in promoting the economy of the newest city of Eldoret once complete.

According to County Executive Committee Member for Trade and Cooperatives Martha Cheruto, the projects will create employment, promote agro-processing of farm products and serve as an investment for locals among others.

Cheruto, while addressing Directors drawn from her docket on Monday in a meeting that was also attended by Chief Officers Ruth Samoei (Cooperatives) and CPA Victorine Kapkiai(Trade), called on them to ensure they follow up on every project of the department to its completion to serve the indented purpose of the county administration.

She further said there is a need to encourage residents, the business community and investors from across the region to utilize these projects once completed noting that plans are underway to package the county to be the premier destination for tourism and investors.

Apart from creating jobs, EPZ is expected to support the county on Industrialization purposes for economic transformation while on the other hand, CAIP will enable farmers across the value chains to aggregate their products and value add for export.

During the meeting, they also deliberated on plans and mechanisms of the department to further continue discharging its mandates on Nguzo number four as described in the Governor’s Nguzo Kumi manifesto.
