COUNTY TRAINS DEAF COMMUNITY ON HARNESSING COOPERATIVES FOR ECONOMIC GROWTH

The Department of Cooperatives and Enterprise Development on Tuesday hosted the deaf community for training on the formation and management of a cooperative societies.

While speaking to the trainees, the Chief Officer for Cooperatives and Enterprise Development, Ruth Samoei, said the department is inspired by Governor Jonathan Bii’s Nguzo of strengthening the cooperatives movement for economic transformation.

She said inclusivity of all communities is enshrined in Governor Bii’s development agenda, and training for access to affordable credit, audit of books are among mandates of the department.

Samoei encouraged them to register the cooperative and be involved in income-generating activities, which will better position them for opportunities available in both county and national governments.

Cooperatives Commissioner Roselyne Rae trained the participants on the registration process, management of the Cooperative and how to access funds from the County Enterprise Development Fund.

Deputy Director of Audit, Mr Samuel Wambugu, was also present during the meeting.
