The County Government of Uasin Gishu Department of Trade and Cooperatives on Wednesday continued with its quest of strengthening cooperative societies and Saccos across the county by impacting them with knowledge and skills in various fields in the Cooperative world.
Speaking during the opening of a three-day training and sensitization of funded and non-funded societies, County Executive Committee Member for Trade and Cooperatives Martha Cheruto said the training focuses on Financial Management, Sacco Governance, membership outreach and resource mobilization as a way to support and strengthen these entities for them to thrive across the County.
Cheruto said her docket will continue to carry out specialized training for cooperative societies to build their capacities to realize improvements in the economies of scale, achieve their goals and fulfill their mission. therefore, enhancing service delivery.
“Let us be our ambassadors and let us learn from each other for our growth as societies. Let us also keep our enterprises consistent, competitive and sustainable for the well-being of our members through value addition, financial literacy and good management,” added Cheruto.
The trained members are expected to cascade down the expertise gained from the training to their various members.
“Let us embrace digitization as one way of growth and also to ease our operations as societies as well as ensure that as bodaboda industry we follow set laws such as putting on our reflector jackets whenever we are riding our motorbikes,” said Cheruto
Director for Enterprise Development Kipleting Mengich, Principal Credit Officer Domtila Birgen, and Chief Trade Development Officer Edwin Korir were among those present during the training.
