COUNTY TRADERS SET TO BENEFIT FROM MARKETS UNDER ESP

To further boost the local economy and provide improved infrastructure for traders and residents, the County Government of Uasin Gishu, in partnership with the National Government, is constructing markets under the Economic Stimulus Program (ESP).

The markets, designed to support small-scale traders and improve trading conditions, are expected to play a key role in driving economic growth in the county.

Currently, Uasin Gishu County is developing seven ESP markets across the six sub-counties.

Trade and Cooperatives CECM Martha Cheruto, together with Trade CO Felix Kimaru, while on a site visit to the projects on Friday in Ainabkoi, Kesses, and Kapseret sub-counties, said the visit was part of the department’s preparedness in planning the allocation of available slots to traders.

The projects feature modern amenities including cold storage facilities, breastfeeding rooms, smart stalls, and infrastructure to support persons with disabilities.
