COUNTY SENSITIZES RESIDENTS ON HEPATITIS A PREVENTION MEASURES IN KAPKATET AND SAOS VILLAGES

The County Government of Uasin Gishu is enhancing its commitment to promoting public health and well-being of its residents by sensitizing them on the causes, symptoms, and preventive measures against Hepatitis A in Ziwa Ward of Soy Sub-County.

During the health education talks, the County Public Health team emphasized the importance of sanitation practices in preventing the transmission of the virus by calling on them to prioritize sanitation by ensuring that every household has access to and utilizes toilets, practices proper hand hygiene by washing hands thoroughly after visiting the toilet, and adopts safe food handling practices to minimize the risk of contamination.

By promoting these simple yet crucial hygiene practices, the County aims to raise awareness and empower residents to take proactive steps in safeguarding their health and that of their communities because Hepatitis A is prevented through improved sanitation and personal hygiene measures therefore reducing the incidence of the disease and enhancing overall public health outcomes.

In addition to the educational component of the campaign, the team also took proactive measures to assess the water quality in the area by sampling water sources for further testing. This initiative aligns with the county’s commitment to ensuring access to clean and safe water for all residents, a crucial aspect of promoting public health and preventing waterborne diseases.

The outreach efforts in Kapkatet and Saos villages underscore Governor Dr Jonathan Bii’s dedication to proactive community engagement and health promotion by providing vital information on disease prevention and conducting water quality assessments.
