COUNTY, NSDCC HOLDS DATA REVIEW MEETING ON HIV, PMTCT AND SGBV

The County Government of Uasin Gishu on Friday hosted officials from The National Syndemic Diseases Control Council (NSDCC) for a data review meeting on HIV, Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission(PMTCT) and Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV).

Clinical Services Chief Officer Dr Joyce Sang noted that data keeping and review is key in the management of infections, especially among men and children aged below 14 years.

According to the report, there was a high total of testing trends in HIV from October to December 2023, with 50,786 tests conducted. The total positives were high in July to September, with 700 cases. There were 608 new ART initiations in July to September, and 34,447 individuals were currently on ART as of January 2024.

There were 846 individuals in need of PMTCT, with a coverage of 33,773. The maternal cascade saw 637 deliveries from HIV-positive mothers, 1,047 infant prophylaxis, 1,057 maternal HAART initiations, 1,068 PMTCT positives, and 1,477 individuals in need of PMTCT.

Regarding the infant cascade, there were 1,135 initial PCR tests conducted, 1,047 infant prophylaxis cases, 1,068 PMTCT positives, and 1,477 individuals in need of PMTCT. The number of SGBV survivors was high in Ainabkoi, with 203 females and 39 males, while Moiben had 58 SGBV-eligible survivors who completed the PEP, 98 initiated on PEP, and a total of 543 survivors were seen according to MOH 364-rev of 2023.
