COUNTY, METROPOL TO PARTNER FOR BEST PRACTICES ON LOAN LENDING

The County Government of Uasin Gishu will soon enter into a partnership with Metropol Credit Reference Bureau (CRB) on among others, best practices for lending to improve and strengthen the County Enterprise Development Fund (CEDF) and the Inua Biashara Fund.

Speaking on Thursday during the Metropol CRB credit community workshop which brought together credit providers and consumers from the North Rift Region to enlighten them on the benefits of credit information sharing and optimization of mechanisms to address challenges associated with credit, Director for CEDF Kipleting Mengich said the move will see the department improve the credit landscape to benefit the community and other businesses entities.

He encouraged the saccos to enrol to the Metropol scheme for them to manage their entities well especially on the aspects of members who may default on their loans.

The event themed: Leveraging data and technology for effective credit risk management saw banks, saccos trade creditors among other stakeholders that attended the workshop trained on credit reporting data management, credit accessibility and financial inclusion.

The County Government through the Department of Cooperatives has been supporting various cooperative societies and saccos with loans to grow and make their ventures sustainable.
