COUNTY, JOOUST TO PARTNER ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF TOURISM STRATEGY

County Executive Committee Member for Trade, Industrialization, Tourism, Cooperatives and Enterprise Development Martha Cheruto on Monday hosted Prof. Odhiambo Ndaga from Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology on a courtesy call where they discussed modalities of partnering on the development of tourism policy and strategy.

She noted that partnership is vital in achieving the county’s manifesto and agenda pointing out the correct legal frameworks and regulations as the key drivers that would see the tourism sector thrive.

The CECM also noted that with the coming up of the Export Processing Zone(EPZ) and the County Aggregation and Industrial Park (CAIP), there’s an urgent need to conduct a labour market assessment to understand and identify gaps that need to be addressed.

While highlighting on impact of the frameworks and regulations, Prof Odhiambo said Eldoret City is now a business and leisure hub that needs to be promoted both locally and internationally.

County Director for Tourism Margaret Aiyabei welcomed the initiative emphasizing tourism as a game changer in the county further adding that engagement with the private sector will enhance the tourism sector in positioning the county as a magical destination.
