The County Government of Uasin Gishu is set to partner with Digital Green and the Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organization (KALRO) on the ground-breaking of the Kenya Agriculture Data Sharing Platform (KADP), which is powered by FarmStack.
The innovative data exchange platform aims to transform farming practices and increase productivity in the region.
Speaking during a courtesy call meeting when he hosted a team from Digital Green, led by Dr. Jackie Wang’ombe, County Executive Committee Member for Agriculture Mr. Edward Sawe along side County Assembly majority leader Hon. Julius Sang expressed the Department’s commitment to collaborating with stakeholders interested in supporting local farmers.
Hon Sang said the partnership with Digital Green and KALRO on the KADP signifies the Government’s commitment to harnessing the power of technology to improve agricultural practices and enhance the livelihoods of farmers.
“The Kenya Agriculture Data Sharing Platform (KADP) is set to provide farmers in Uasin Gishu with access to real-time agricultural information, market trends, weather updates, and best farming practices,” said Sawe.


According to Chief Officer for Agriculture Mr Elphas Kesio, utilizing FarmStack’s technology, aims to bridge the gap between farmers and relevant stakeholders, ensuring efficient knowledge transfer and data-sharing within the agricultural value chain.
Kesio added that through this partnership, Governor Jonathan Bii-led’s administration hopes to empower farmers with accurate, up-to-date information, enabling them to make informed decisions and adopt modern farming techniques.
“With the KADP, farmers will have access to a wealth of agricultural data, including crop-specific information, pest and disease management strategies, and guidance on farm inputs and practices,” added Kesio
On his part, Livestock Development Chief Officer Nixon Cheplong said that the comprehensive knowledge will help optimize productivity, increase crop yields and livestock production, and mitigate risks therefore, facilitating direct communication between farmers, agricultural experts, and markets, promoting transparency and enhancing market access for farmers.
Dr. Jackie Wang’ombe on her part, said that Digital Green Kenya will on the 5th and 6th of December, train agriculture and Livestock extension officers before training over 2000 lead farmers in early January next year.
Director of Agriculture Mr Reuben Seroney was present during the meeting.
