COUNTY CONVENES A STAKEHOLDER CONSULTATIVE FORUM ON THE CONFIRMENT OF ELDORET TO CITY STATUS

A consultative forum for the preparation of the confirmation of Eldoret to city status was held at the headquarters, with a diverse group of stakeholders representing both national and county levels in attendance.

The forum’s purpose was to gather input and insights from various perspectives to ensure a comprehensive and inclusive preparation process for Eldoret’s city status confirmation.

While speaking at the forum, County Executive for Trade and Cooperatives Ms Martha Cheruto also stressed the need for effective coordination between the county government, national government agencies, and private sector partners to facilitate the transition process.

Key topics discussed included infrastructure development, urban planning, economic growth strategies,  governance structures, security, environmental development and community engagement initiatives.

Stakeholders shared their expertise and recommendations to support the successful transition of Eldoret to a city, highlighting the importance of collaboration and coordination between different levels of government and sectors.

Participants included representatives from the Eldoret business community, financial institutions, tourism sector, insurance, Kenya Association of Manufacturers, Jua Kali sector the youth Generation Z, and Kenya Revenue Authority among other players.

Also at the forum were County Executives for Lands Housing and Physical Planning Janet Kosgei, Roads and Transport Eng. Joseph Lagat, Town Manager Tito Koiyet Chief of Staff Nicholas Chepkwony, and Chief Officers and County directors.
