COUNTY COMMITS TO ENHANCING ECDE INFRASTRUCTURE

County Executive Committee Member for Education Dr Janeth Kosgei on Tuesday paid a visit to Bukwotuiyobei ECDE Centre, Turbo sub-county to assess the milk program and the infrastructure developments.

While visiting the ECDE centre, Dr. Kosgei revealed that Governor Jonathan Bii’s administration has allocated funds for the construction of classrooms for Bukwo and Bukwotuiyobei through the ward development fund.

The CECM said the construction of both classes will commence as soon as possible.

He further said that the funds allocated for the classrooms are already in the school accounts awaiting for a groundbreaking. Commenting on the impact of the School Milk program, Dr. Kosgei noted an increment in enrolment of the pupils in the ECDE centres across the county following the introduction of the program.

She also revealed plans to employ more teachers.

The School Milk program was launched early this month targeting 40,000 ECDE learners in public centres. Under the program, the learners get 200ml packets of milk twice a week – Tuesdays and Thursdays.

The initiative, the CECM said, was going on well and encouraged the ECDE teachers to use quality learning materials.

“We want equality and access to quality education. Education is the equalizer, education is key to everything,” she said while thanking the community for playing a role in supporting the schools.

Locals also appreciated and thanked Governor BiI’s administration for building schools and infrastructure.
