CHILDREN’S DEVOLUTION CONFERENCE KICKS OFF IN KIAMBU

A delegation from Uasin Gishu County is part of the participants taking part in the Children’s Devolution Conference that officially kicked off on Tuesday in Kiambu.

Council of Governors Vice Chairperson FCPA Ahmed Abdullahi who is the Governor of Wajir and Education PS Belio Kipsang presided over the opening of the conference.

In his remarks, Governor Abdullahi said the children’s conference is a pre-event to the main one set to be held in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County from 15th to 19th August 2023.

“This event provides an opportunity for children to add their voice to the Devolution Conference as their resolutions will be read during the opening ceremony of the main conference,” said the COG Vice-chair.

“Children’s voices are a treasure that guides the country to a brighter and more inclusive country,” he added.

On his part, the Education PS said as a Government, they are committed to ensuring children’s rights are taken care of.

He named the right to education as one of the areas they have fully invested in.

On her part, County Executive Committee Member for Education Dr. Janeth Kosgei said the Children’s Devolution Conference provides a platform for them to air their views noting that children play a big role in the country’s transformation.

“This is the platform for the children to tell and share their stories,” said the CECM who also used the opportunity to invite Kenyans to the Devolution conference which will take place in August in Uasin Gishu County.
