“As the CECM responsible for Trade, Investment, Tourism, Cooperatives and Enterprise Development, I am encouraged by the innovations and practices being implemented at JOSCO Farm. Such initiatives demonstrate that agriculture can be a key driver of economic growth when approached as a business,” said Chebunet.
He further commended JOSCO Farm for playing a crucial role in imparting agricultural knowledge and practical skills to young people through attachment opportunities and employment. Chebunet said such initiatives expose the youth to modern farming practices, enterprise management and value addition while equipping them with skills that can help them pursue careers and businesses in the agricultural sector.
He noted that the county would continue to promote partnerships with innovative farmers, cooperatives and private-sector players to enhance value addition, market access and enterprise development across the county.
JOSCO Farm Director Joseph Seroney welcomed the county officials, saying the visit provided an opportunity to explore areas of collaboration between the farm and the county government.
Seroney said the farm was open to partnering with the county in promoting agricultural innovation, skills development, value addition and knowledge sharing among farmers.
