In line with Governor Dr. Bii’s commitment to empowering youth, women and persons with disabilities as outlined in the Nguzo Kumi Manifesto, particularly the adherence to the 30% procurement rule, senior officials from the Department of Finance and Economic Planning continued with the second day of the Access to Government Procurement Opportunities (AGPO) training program.
The training, held at ILULA, Kapsoya Ward, aimed to equip these special groups with the knowledge and skills to effectively participate in government tenders and procurement processes, fostering inclusivity and economic empowerment.
Shillah Jerono, a procurement officer accompanied by Silvester Sang delved into the processes and requirements for registering businesses under AGPO while emphasizing the importance of compliance with regulatory standards.
The officers also provided practical solutions, outlining steps that businesses could take to improve their chances of winning bids. They also provided guidance on how to prepare and submit tender documents and introduced available government procurement opportunities.
The interactive session saw participants actively asking questions and sharing experiences on the challenges they face in accessing government tenders.
The requirements for registering businesses under AGPO are;
(i) National Identity Card/Kenyan Passport
(18-34 years for the youth)
(ii) Business Registration Certificate/Certificate of incorporation
(iii) CR 12 for Limited Company from Registrar of Companies(system generated softcopy)
(iv) Partnership Deed for partnership business
(v)Tax compliance certificate
(vi) National Construction Authority Letter/Certificate for construction category.
