9000 KM APART, ELDORET SUPPORTED THEIR KIN IN BERLIN

Thousands of athletics fans in Eldoret City turned up to watch the 2024 BMW Berlin Marathon. This is the fanfare and support accorded to their brothers and sisters whenever there’s a major championship or race, in the global front.

For a City that appreciates the dynamics of sports – of either win or lose and live to fight another day – the fans appreciated that Cyprian Kotut salvaged what could have been a bad outting, to win silver medal in the men’s race. No Kenyan woman managed to get to the podium as Ethiopians dominated the race.

The watchparty was organized by the County Government of Uasin Gishu and Nation Television (Ntv). Speaking at the event, County Sports Executive, Eng Lucy Ng’endo said sports has been a tool of uniting the North Rift Region.

She said the County Government, led by Dr Jonathan Bii, has a number of programs already running, whose aim is to identify, grow and nurture sports talents across all sporting disciplines.
