The Cheplaskei/Chebarus Water Project in Kiplombe Ward, Turbo Sub-County, is steadily taking shape following its recent handover to the contractor, raising hopes among residents for a reliable supply of water for domestic and agricultural use.

Residents are eagerly anticipating the project’s completion, which is expected to provide a dependable water source and support agricultural activities aimed at improving household livelihoods.

The project is being implemented under the Financing Locally-Led Climate Action (FLLoCA) initiative, with a strong focus on climate resilience and adaptation. Once completed, the reliable water supply is expected to enable farmers to diversify their crops and embrace irrigation as they cope with increasingly unpredictable weather patterns.

During a recent inspection of the ongoing works, Engineer Benadys Chelagat and Climate Change Unit (CCU) Officer Meshack Amai commended the progress, noting that the works were being carried out to the required standards.

The Cheplaskei/Chebarus project is among more than 40 FLLoCA water projects recently handed over to contractors across the County. The projects are expected to expand access to reliable water, particularly for irrigation, enabling communities to strengthen agricultural production and build more resilient livelihoods in the face of climate change.

With the completion of the projects, residents are expected to have greater opportunities to engage in sustainable farming, diversify their income sources, and improve their overall quality of life.
