CO CHEPLONG LEADS KIPLOMBE RESIDENTS AS 15 WARDS SHAPE 2027/2028 DEVELOPMENT PRIORITIES

The County Government of Uasin Gishu has commenced public participation for the 2027/2028 Annual Development Plan (ADP), allowing residents to identify and prioritise projects that will guide development across their communities.

The first phase covered Kaptagat, Ainabkoi/Olare, Simat/Kipkenyo, Kuinet/Kapsuswa, Cheptiret, Racecourse, Kiplombe, Kapsoya, Tulwet/Chuiyat, Karuna/Meibeki and Kimumu, with the remaining wards scheduled for the second phase on 20th August 2026.

In Kiplombe Ward, County Chief Officer for Economic Planning Nixon Cheplong, together with area MCA Gilbert Lagat, Ward Administrator Nancy Korir, and FLOCCA Ward Chairperson Josephat Misoi, led the engagement with residents on the County’s planning and budgeting process.

Cheplong took residents through the budget cycle, emphasising the need to prioritise projects based on pressing community needs and available resources.

Residents were thereafter divided into three groups representing Emkwen, Kilimani and Kiplombe locations to deliberate and develop priority project wish lists across various County departments.

Roads emerged as a common priority across all three groups, with residents highlighting the need for improved road infrastructure and accessibility within their respective areas.

The forum brought together residents and community stakeholders, including BUDA CBO, SHOFCO NGO and the Lower Kapchumba Residents Association Society, a residents’ advocacy group, among other participants.

Other proposals captured during the exercise covered Water; Livestock; Energy and Environment; Trade; Health; Education; Youth and Sports; ICT and Innovation; and Lands.

The proposals will be consolidated and considered in preparing the 2027/2028 Annual Development Plan, ensuring development priorities reflect needs identified at the grassroots.
