County Government of Uasin Gishu in conjunction with the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) marked a significant milestone with the official launch of the 2025 County Statistical Abstract (CSA), unveiled by Governor Dr. Jonathan Bii Chelilim at the County Headquarters on Monday, November 17, 2025.
Speaking during the event, Governor noted that the journey towards this comprehensive data report began in November 2023, when the county convened a stakeholder forum that set the foundation for a rigorous data collection, analysis, and validation.

He emphasized that the CSA is a central document to the Nguzo Kumi Agenda implementation and the county’s commitment to data-driven planning and accountability, considering the fact that Uasin Gishu is the first county to launch statistical abstract this year.
One of the key highlights in the report is a significant rise in the youth population aged between 18–35, from 396,111 to 453,369. The governor reaffirmed the county’s dedication to empowering young people through skills development and job creation.
“We are planning to launch Fanikisha Vijana Programme, which will equip youth with practical skills and unlock employment opportunities. In support of this initiative, the county has committed over Kshs. 165 million, comprising Kshs. 100 million for Fanikisha Vijana and Kshs. 65 million for Fanikisha Hustle” Governor said.

The education sector has also recorded notable progress. ECDE enrolment has surged to 52,685 learners, attributed largely to the successful School Milk Programme that now covers 692 centers. The confirmation of 1,466 ECDE teachers has further boosted quality in early learning.
Additionally, the county’s focus on technical training is bearing fruit, with TVET enrolment rising from 23,036 to 33,201 as modernization of 13 Vocational Training Centres continues, alongside the construction of two new facilities.
In health, Uasin Gishu has expanded public health facilities from 129 to 146, while the number of medical personnel has more than doubled from 608 to 1,291. The governor highlighted the Mama Rachel Ruto Maternity Hospital as a transformative project, noting that the facility—equipped with 20 incubators and a 40-bed antenatal and postnatal unit—has already recorded 4,462 deliveries since June 2024.
Agriculture, the backbone of the county’s economy, continues to flourish. Milk production nearly doubled from 216.7 million kilograms valued at Kshs. 8.6 billion to 462.9 million kilograms in 2024. Maize production rose from 368,475 tons to 414,075 tons, driven by the county’s fertilizer subsidy programme and improved farmer support systems.
On revenue performance, Governor Bii revealed that Own Source Revenue had grown from Kshs. 779 million to over Kshs. 1.3 billion, signalling increased economic activity and improved compliance. He reiterated the critical role natural resource data plays in sustainable planning and environmental protection.

The CSA also provides an overview of governance indicators, including voter registration, civic participation, access to information, and access to justice—key pillars for strengthening transparency, public trust, and participatory governance.
Governor Bii applauded the collaboration between county departments, KNBS, and development partners, noting that the CSA will continue to serve as a vital tool for informed decision-making and effective service delivery across all sectors.
