COUNTY LAUDS SAFARICOM PLC FOR TRANSFORMATIVE, INNOVATIVE SERVICES THAT HAVE SHAPED BUSINESS GROWTH

The County Government of Uasin Gishu has commended Safaricom PLC for its transformative and innovative services that continue to drive business growth and enhance service delivery across the region.

Speaking on Monday in Eldoret during the Safaricom Shangwe @25 celebrations, County Executive Committee Member for Trade and Cooperatives, Martha Cheruto, said Safaricom remains one of the county’s key partners in promoting enterprise development and digital transformation.

She noted that the County Government and the country’s largest telecommunications company have jointly supported the training of SMEs, cooperative societies, and SACCOs in financial management and e-commerce.

“We’ve walked this transformative journey together, reaching all our sub-counties and enabling close to 100,000 businesses across the county to transact with ease,” Cheruto said, urging the business community and residents to take advantage of emerging opportunities within the city to grow and establish themselves.

Cheruto further stated that Governor H.E. Dr. Jonathan Bii remains passionate about creating a prosperous county, emphasizing that the County Government has ensured a conducive business environment where traders can thrive—positioning Eldoret City as a leading economic hub.

Safaricom’s Regional Business Lead, Samuel Kirubi, appreciated Kenyans for being part of the company’s 25-year journey, noting that their continued support has helped build a strong local brand that continues to simplify lives.

During the celebrations, several customers were recognized and rewarded with various gifts, including mobile phones, scratch cards, and other prizes.

Also in attendance were County Directors Kipchumba Barno (Trade), Margaret Aiyabei (Tourism), Irene Malel (Trade Administration), Brenda Rono (Investment), and Ruth Lelei.
