UASIN GISHU FARMERS TRAINED ON KRA eTIMS COMPLIANCE

A section of farmers in Uasin Gishu County on Thursday benefited from a sensitization session on the Kenya Revenue Authority’s Electronic Tax Invoice Management System (eTIMS), aimed at enhancing compliance, promoting transparency, and improving access to formal markets within the agricultural value chain.

The session was led by the County Executive Committee Member for Agriculture, Agribusiness, Livestock and Fisheries, Dr. Sam Kotut, who emphasized the need for farmers to understand emerging digital systems that are transforming agribusiness operations.

Dr. Kotut noted that as agriculture shifts from subsistence to commercial levels, farmers must adopt digital financial tools that enhance accountability and make it easier to access markets and credit facilities.

Chief Officer for Agriculture Eng. Abraham Kiptalam commended the initiative, noting that it aligns with Governor Dr. Jonathan Bii’s agenda of equipping farmers with the knowledge and tools needed to thrive in a competitive economy.

“Equipping our farmers with such information ensures they are ready to benefit from formal markets while remaining compliant with national systems,” he said.

Also present was Mr. Reuben Seroney, Director of Agriculture, who urged farmers to embrace record-keeping and adopt digital innovations for efficient agribusiness management.

Speaking on behalf of the farmers, Mr. Paul Samoei from Kipkenyo welcomed the initiative, saying the training helped demystify eTIMS and demonstrated how digital systems can make farm businesses more organized.

“We now understand that eTIMS is not just about tax, but also about keeping proper records and accessing better opportunities,” he said.
