DG KAPKEA TO THE YOUTH: TAKE ADVANTAGE OF PROGRAMS CREATED FOR YOU

Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor, Evans Kapkea, has called on the youth to actively engage with government programs and take full advantage of the numerous opportunities designed to empower them.

Kapkea noted that both the national and county governments have prioritized youth empowerment initiatives, making it essential for young people to step up and utilize these opportunities for their personal and economic growth.

He highlighted that the administrations led by President Dr. William Ruto and Governor Dr. Jonathan Bii have rolled out various programs aimed at uplifting and empowering the youth.

“In Uasin Gishu County, for instance, we have Fanikisha Hustle as among startup loans for young entrepreneurs, agricultural training programs, youth-reserved tenders, and sports initiatives designed to help young people monetize their talents,” said the Deputy Governor.

Kapkea made the remarks on Monday during a sensitization forum for the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) program held in Eldoret City.

NYOTA is a national government initiative aimed at equipping young people with essential skills and opportunities for growth and innovation. Among its components is the certification of skills acquired through apprenticeship.

Several dignitaries attended the event, including Members of Parliament David Kiplagat (Soy), Janet Sitienei (Turbo), Samuel Chepkong’a (Ainabkoi), and Julius Ruto (Kesses), as well as the Principal Secretary for MSMEs, Susan Mang’eni, MCAs, County Secretary Philip Meli, County Executives, Chief Officers, NGAO officials, and County Directors.
