The County Government of Uasin Gishu and Safaricom PLC have initiated discussions on broad areas of collaboration aimed at transforming businesses and improving livelihoods across the county.
In a meeting hosted by Governor H.E. Dr. Jonathan Bii, the deliberations focused on creating shared values through foundational and enabling pillars to promote education, healthcare, and trade key drivers of economic development and societal progress.

Governor Dr. Bii commended the country’s leading telecommunications provider for choosing Uasin Gishu as one of its preferred counties for such impactful initiatives. He affirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening partnerships that align with the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) and his Nguzo Kumi development blueprint.
The Governor further emphasized that digitizing agriculture, supporting the education sector, and upgrading health facilities with modern equipment and technologies remain critical to achieving inclusive, transformative, and sustainable development countywide.

Alice Otieno, the delegation’s team leader and a senior business development official in public sector digital transformation, highlighted that key focus areas include digital health, digital public infrastructure, and government financial empowerment — all aimed at transforming communities.
Trade and Cooperatives CECM Martha Cheruto expressed her department’s readiness to collaborate on digitizing and integrating county financial programs such as the Cooperative Enterprise Development Fund (CEDF), Inua Biashara, and Fanikisha Hustle, as well as supporting SACCOs and cooperative societies.
