The County Government of Uasin Gishu has commenced the implementation of the Kipkaren Ng’eny Kipsamoo Water Project in Ngeria Ward, Kapseret Sub-county, marking another milestone in its efforts to expand access to clean and safe water while strengthening climate resilience through sustainable infrastructure development as Nguzo no 7.

Implemented in partnership with the Financing Locally-Led Climate Action (FLLoCA) Programme, the project is expected to enhance water availability for hundreds of households by providing a reliable and sustainable water supply.

The project entails the construction of an intake sump, a 60-cubic-metre steel storage tank, a solar-powered pumping system, a pumping main pipeline, a distribution pipeline, and perimeter fencing. Upon completion, it will significantly improve access to safe and reliable water while promoting climate-smart water infrastructure.

Speaking during the site handover, County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Water, Irrigation, Sanitation, Energy, Environment, Natural Resources and Climate Change, Mr. Anthony Sitienei, reaffirmed the county’s commitment to expanding access to clean and safe water through sustainable infrastructure development.

Mr. Sitienei urged the contractor to execute the project to the highest quality standards and complete the works within the agreed timelines to ensure residents begin enjoying the benefits without delay.

The project is being implemented under the Financing Locally-Led Climate Action (FLLoCA) Programme and forms part of the County Government’s broader agenda to strengthen water security, build resilience to the effects of climate change, and improve livelihoods through sustainable water infrastructure across Uasin Gishu County.
