The County Department of Health Services has intensified its preparedness efforts against Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) following a Health Management Team (HMT) meeting that brought together health officials to review response strategies and strengthen readiness across all health facilities.

The meeting, led by Director of Medical Services Dr. Evans Kiprotich, focused on strengthening disease surveillance, infection prevention and control measures, case management preparedness, risk communication, and rapid response mechanisms.

Speaking during the meeting, Dr. Kiprotich reaffirmed the county’s commitment to protecting residents through proactive planning and coordinated emergency response measures.

“The safety and well-being of our residents remain our top priority. We are strengthening surveillance systems and enhancing preparedness across health facilities to ensure we can effectively respond to any public health threat,” said Dr. Kiprotich.

Health officials emphasized the importance of early detection, prompt reporting, and strict adherence to infection prevention and control protocols by both healthcare workers and members of the public.

Residents were urged to remain vigilant and familiarize themselves with Ebola symptoms, including sudden fever, severe headache, muscle pain, weakness, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain, and unexplained bleeding or bruising. Anyone experiencing these symptoms should seek immediate medical attention.

Director of Promotive and Preventive Health Laban Kiplagat assured residents that county health teams remain vigilant and fully prepared to protect communities. He urged the public to maintain good hygiene practices and seek information only from official government communication channels.
