DG KAPKEA LEADS WELCOME OF NEW OMBUDSMAN OFFICE IN UASIN GISHU

Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor Evans Kapkea led the county in welcoming the newly commissioned North Rift Regional Office of the Commission on Administrative Justice (CAJ), also known as the Office of the Ombudsman, during a ceremony held at the KVDA Auditorium.

The newly established Ombudsman offices are located on the 7th Floor of the KVDA Building, bringing essential services closer to residents of Uasin Gishu County and the wider North Rift region.

The regional office will enhance access to justice by addressing complaints related to maladministration and safeguarding citizens’ right to information.

Representing Governor Dr. Jonathan Bii, the Deputy Governor expressed the county’s full support for the new office, describing its establishment as a significant milestone in strengthening accountability, transparency, and responsive public service delivery across the North Rift region.

DG Kapkea emphasized that the County Government of Uasin Gishu is committed to working closely with the Commission by offering the necessary cooperation and support to ensure residents can easily access services that resolve complaints and improve public administration.

“This partnership is about making government more responsive, transparent, and accountable to every resident of Uasin Gishu,” he said.

He further noted that the presence of the Ombudsman’s office will empower citizens, enhance efficiency in public service, and strengthen trust between the community and county leadership. He assured that the county will actively collaborate with the Commission through public awareness initiatives and strengthened oversight of public institutions.

Justice Reuben N. Nyakundi, Presiding Judge of the High Court in Eldoret, lauded the initiative, noting that the office will play a critical role in promoting good governance, fairness, and integrity in county administration.

Those present at the commissioning ceremony included Mr. Charles Orinda Dulo, EBS (Ombudsman), Hon. Charles Njagua Kanyi (Commissioner, Complaints and Investigations), and Ms. Dorothy Jemator (Vice Chairperson and Commissioner in charge of Access to Information).
