Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor, H.E. Hon. Evans Kipkemei Kapkea, on Friday led a key planning session to review the progress of the county’s coffee seedling distribution program and strategize for its next phase.
Speaking during the meeting, the Deputy Governor reaffirmed the county’s commitment to agricultural transformation, stating, “This review allows us to ensure that what we started is taking root—not just in the fields, but in our households. The next phase will build on these lessons to reach more farmers and enhance productivity.”

The session brought together key stakeholders, including Chief Officer for Agriculture Mr. Elphas Kesio, sub-county and ward agricultural officers, and representatives from the county administration. The focus was on evaluating farmer feedback and improving coordination for future distributions.
Mr. Kesio noted that the initiative has successfully connected farmers with expert knowledge through targeted training sessions. He also clarified that, due to logistical constraints, farmers will collect their seedlings the day after the official launch.
The initiative aligns with Nguzo number one on Agriculture and Food Security which aims to boost farmer incomes through crop diversification and value addition.
Also in attendance were Directors Kenneth Kili (Agriculture), Emmanuel Kipchumba (Communication), Silah Kosgei (Governor’s Press), and Charles Kapkiai (Governor’s Delivery Unit), who all reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the smooth implementation of the program’s next phase.
