Residents of Segero-Barsombe and Ziwa Wards in Uasin Gishu County have lauded the Governor Dr. Jonathan Bii, EGH, administration for its swift implementation of high-impact infrastructure projects, citing improved safety, accessibility, and economic prospects in their communities.
On Thursday, Chief Officer for Roads, Transport, and Public Works Geoffrey Tanui spearheaded a county delegation to inspect two critical projects: the construction of the Ziwa Machine-Cheplelaibei Bridge that links Ziwa and Kipsomba Wards and the graveling of the Makongi Central Junction (Bakule)-Chepkoiyo Road in Segero-Barsombe Ward, Soy Sub-County. Later, Tanui joined officials to commission newly constructed stalls at Ziwa Machine Market, marking a milestone for local traders.
During the site visits, Tanui engaged with enthusiastic residents, reaffirming the county government’s dedication to advancing infrastructure as a pillar of economic growth. “These projects reflect Governor Bii’s pledge to prioritize community-driven development. Reliable infrastructure is the backbone of progress, and we are committed to delivering fully on our promises,” he stated.
Residents expressed relief at the replacement of the aging bridge, which had long posed risks, particularly to schoolchildren. “For years, crossing the old bridge was a daily hazard. This new structure will save lives and finally connect us safely to hospitals, markets, and schools,” said Edna Cherop, one of the community members. Similarly, the upgraded road is expected to ease transportation challenges for farmers and traders, boosting local commerce.
The handover of modern market stalls at Ziwa Machine further underscored the county’s holistic approach to development. Traders celebrated the upgraded facilities, which promise to enhance hygiene, security, and customer access.
Governor Bii’s infrastructure agenda, anchored in his Nguzo Kumi manifesto, continues to prioritize projects identified by communities themselves, ensuring alignment with grassroots needs. With these initiatives, Uasin Gishu County strides closer to its vision of inclusive, sustainable growth.
